MAN TO APPEAR IN COURT AFTER SAVAGE HAMMER ATTACK

A man is to appear in court after a hammer attack on another man’s car.

The PSNI arrested a man after the hammer attack.

The PSNI arrested a man after the hammer attack.

The bizarre attack happened in the Glenside Gardens area of the city in recent days.

It is understood the incident arose of a domestic dispute.

Police responded to a report by a passer-by that a man was attacking a car with a hammer.

A 34 year old man was arrested at the scene.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Police have only released details of the incident which took place in the Glenside Gardens area of Derry on the evening of Wednesday, 21 August last.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the man had been charged with criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

The man, believed to be from the Glen area, is due to appear at Derry Magistrates on the morning of Wednesday, 18 September next.
