GUN DISCOVERY FORCES FAMILIES FROM THEIR HOMES

A number of families were forced to leave their homes during a security alert in Strabane yesterday morning.  

A police spokesperson said PSNI officers found a firearm during a search of a house in the Ballycolman estate.

Four homes were evacuated while the weapon was examined by British army technical officers before removing it from the scene.

Residents, who had been asked to leave their homes at 9.20am were allowed to return at around 2.00pm.
