Things are getting better for Derry with news the city has won the prestigious Translink in Bloom competition for the sixth year running.
The city has once again scooped the “City Category” and Mayor Martin Reilly described the news as “a fantastic achievement.”
Derry will now go on to represent Northern Ireland in the “Britain in Bloom” finals next month.
Extending his congratulations to Derry City Council, the Mayor said it was a “huge achievement” for the city and well deserved recognition for the excellent work to make the city clean and colourful.
He said: “This is another great news story for Derry and I am absolutely delighted that the city has once again come out on top.”
Earlier this year, the city’se Conservation Volunteers, facilitated by Pride In Our City team, took silver in the Team Challenge at Garden Show Ireland.
The city is currently awaiting the results from this year’s Co-operation Ireland’s Pride of Place awards taking place in the city in November.
