Planners have refused to give the go-ahead for the construction of two wind turbines by two Derry farmers.
Robert Smith, Woodside Road, Newbuildings is looking to construct a 40 metre high 225k turbine approximately 340 metres from his farmhouse in order to support his existing farm business.
In turning down Mr Smith’s application, planners say the proposed turbine is “unacceptable to visual impact.”
Roy McCrea has also been refused permission to build a 30 metre high 225kw wind turbine 330 metres north west of 330 Longland Road, Claudy.
As in the case of Mr Smith’s application, planners say the proposed turbine would cause “unacceptable visual impact” but was also “detrimental to residential amenity.”
