A play in tribute to a local woman who dedicated her life to helping those in need in the city will take to the stage tonight.
“Hostel,” which will highlight the hardship of the homeless, is being performed in honour of the late Mary Officer who was a member of the Shepherds View Young Parents Project, First Housing Aid and Support Services.
Colleague Niall McCarroll said anyone who had the “fortune” of meeting Mary would always remember her as someone who was “so genuine and honest.”
He added: “Mary worked with First Housing, giving up her short life to help those who found themselves on the margins of society, vulnerable and in need of help.
“Mary fulfilled her role within First Housing with a smile. She made you think and reflect on your own life.”
“Hostel” will be staged in An Culturiann in Great James Street and no ticket is necessary as donations on the night will go to Gaelscoil Eadain Mhoir and Manorcunningham Nursery School.
