The PSNI are hunting for the driver of a car who sped off after knocking down a woman in the city last weekend.
Police at Strand Road are appealing for witnesses to the hit and run incident which occurred in the Buncrana Road area at around 11.0opm on Sunday last.
The woman suffered a number of injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 11.00pm a black Peugeot hatchback car was driven down the Buncrana Road. The driver, believed to be male, turned right into Springtown Road and knocked down a 23-year-old woman who was crossing the road. The driver, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, is believed to have stopped the car and got out briefly before driving away at speed up the Springtown Road.”
The spokesperson said anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact Strand Road police on 0845 600 8000.
“Alternatively, information may be passed on anonymously via the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111,” the spokesperson said.
