Derry City Council has confirmed they are investigating the killing in the city of family pet dog by an Alsatian dog.
“Toby,” a 15-year-old Springer Spaniel, was killed when he was attacked by the Alsatian in the back yard of his owner at Sheelin Park in the Hazelbank area of the city.
A spokesperson for Derry City Council said they were aware of the “alleged incident” and were currently conducting an investigation.
The spokesperson added the Council was not in a position to comment specifically on an “ongoing investigative case.”
