HOSPITALS in Derry and Donegal are to join forces to provide acute cardiology care across the border, a report will recommend later today.
The management of Letterkenny General Hospital will tell a public meeting in the town today of plans to restore facilities to the hospital after a massive flood there in July.
Among the ambitious plans is for consultants and other medical staff to work together to provide 24/7 acute cardiology services between Altnagelvin and Letterkenny.
A report on this will be given at the Mount Errigal Hotel from 2pm today.
It will recommend a new shared cardiology laboratory at Altnagelvin as part of the arrangement.
Details of the €20M re-build of the Letterkenny facility will also be given.
After the flood dozens of patients were transferred to Derry from north and west Donegal.
