Sinn Fein has condemned those who daubed anti-policing graffiti on its Creggan constitueny office as “criminals” and “vandals.”
The attack occurred at the start of a PSNI recruitment campaign aimed at recruiting 100 officers, mostly in the Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh regions.
Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Fleming, chairperson of the Derry Policing and Community Safety Partnership (DPCSP) condemned those as “vandals” and “criminals.”
Cllr Fleming said those responsible represented no one and had nothing to the local community and where of the same “mentality” as those who had carried out attacks on local health and GAA facilities.
Cllr Fleming said his party’s dance on policing was well known and said the party was happy to engage in “meaningful and respectful” talks with anyone who thought differently.
The Sinn Fein office is open and operating as normal today, added its staff would not be deterred by “vandals and criminals.”
Meanwhile, the DUP has hit out at the PSNI recruitment campaign, claiming it to be one-side as it was targeting the Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh regions, where nationalists/catholics were in the majority.
