The Derry~Londonderry~Doire has picked up valuable bonus points as it extends its lead in Race 2 of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
The Derry entry was first to cross the “Scoring Gate” and, in doing so, collected a valuable three points as it continues to lead the 12-strong fleet across the Atlantic Ocean from Brest in France to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil
The Henri Lloyd crossed the line in second place an hour later with Mission performance chasing their tail in third place.
With the competition heating up and the uncertainty of the Doldrums looming, the rest of the fleet will also have the chance to score some valuable extra points in Race 2 with an Ocean Sprint.
