Derry City striker Rory Patterson is expected to be included in the Derry CIty team to play Bray Wanderers tonight less than 72 hours after being charged with assault.
Patterson (29) did not attend Derry Magistrates Court on Wednesday when his case was adjourned to September 30 next.
Patterson, whose address in court documents was given as Oakfield Mews, Derry, is charged with assaulting a man in the city occasioning actual bodily harm on 10 December last year.
Having lost their grip on the Ford FAI Cup against Sligo Rovers on Sunday last, City’s only remaining target is Europa League spot which will only remain a reality with a win against tonight’s visitors on Brandywell.
Despite a poor run of results in the league, Derry will go into tonight’s game full of confidence having beaten the Wanderers on the two occasions they have met this season.
Devine is likely to start with Patterson due to an increasing injury list at the Brandywell. For tonight’s game Devine will be without the services of Barry McNamee and Ryan McBride through suspension, while Stewart Greacen (knee), Kevin Deery (knee) and Tomas Crawley (Groin) and on the long term injury list with Sean Houston (ankle), Dean Jarvis (knee) and PatrickMcEleney (foot) all struggling to prove their fitness for the game.
Tonight’s game will kick-off at 7.45pm and will be broadcast live on local radio station Drive 105.
