A Derry man has been fined £20,000 for breaching planning regulations.
John Doherty, of Ardan Road, Culmore was charged with the unauthorised erection of a building, the provision of fence and gates and hardcore at his property and the unauthorised use of buildings and land for the depositing of vehicles at Coney Road, Culmore.
He was found guilty at Derry Magistrates Court yesterday to a continued non compliance with DOE Planning Enforcement Notices and was also made to pay a total of £1,400 legal costs. Mr Doherty had previously been fined £7,000 plus £150 legal costs.
Mr Doherty was prosecuted under Article 72 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991.
