The people of Derry are being asked to take part the worldwide remembrance of babies who died during pregnancy or at birth.candle-light

October is Infant/Pregnancy Loss and SIDS Awareness month and one of the remembrance events being held is Wave a Light on 15 October when everyone is asked to light a candle for at least an hour at 7,00pm to create a continuous “wave of light” across the world.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “Let’s take some time to remember the babies who were born asleep, or whom we carried but never met, or those we have held but could not take home, or the ones who made it home, but didn’t stay.

“If you or someone you know has suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss due to SIDS/SUID, prematurity or other cause, we hope you will join us in this tribute to create awareness of these tragic infant deaths and provide support to those who are suffering.”
