The ancient pagan celebration of Hallowe’en is getting a 21st century update in Derry this year, with the development of a new wicked interactive application which will ensure revellers get the most out of the jam-packed programme of events.
With so much happening across the city this new interactive application will allow users to access all the latest about what’s on at the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival and where, so they have all the information to hand at the touch of a button.
Find out more about the Ghostly Galleon, the spine-chilling story-telling sessions, the spooktacular Shape Shifters Ball and the creepy catwalk as the programme goes live online today.
Successful digital entrepreneur, marketing guru and innovator Wayne Hemmingway, who was in the city for a special Business Opportunities Programme workshop on Monday, said the new resource was the perfect way to highlight the extensive programme of freaky fun.
He said: “I think it’s a fantastic idea to make all the information about the week’s events available in this format. Most people are familiar with using social media like Facebook to communicate on a daily basis, and as a marketing tool it’s invaluable, as it means that information can be updated so quickly and easily.
“Derry is certainly leading the way when it comes to staging the most spectacular Hallowe’en celebrations in the country, so it makes sense that the city embraces the latest technologies to promote the programme.”
The city’s Mayor Cllr Martin Reilly urged Hallowe’en revellers to use the application to successfully navigate their way through the week’s spooky celebrations.
He said: “This year will undoubtedly be our most fabulous Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival to date, with an ambitious programme and lots of new and unique features, such as the Ghostly Galleon Tall Ship and the dazzling Inferno.
“We will be enjoying a full week of Hallowe’en celebrations, with events taking place right across the city for all ages,” he said. “I would encourage everyone to download the application and share it with friends, that way they can get the most out of their Legenderry Hallowe’en experience.”
