Race 2, Day 26: The Derry entry in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is “chipping away” at the leaders as the fleet approaches the finish line in Rio de Janeiro.
Sean McCarter, skipper of the Derry “LondonDerry” Doire said the crew were keeping the pressure on the leaders, who are within 400 miles of the finish line.
Sean said: “Its been another day of blue skies, steady breeze and drama-free sailing. It’s getting difficult to blog with so little to complain about! We are happy to be slowly chipping away at the leaders and keeping a certain amount of pressure on.
“There is a weather system coming through from the south that will provide a couple of different tactical opportunities and hopefully shake things up a little before the finish.
“Last night we had another nice run with the spinnaker up gliding along under starlight.”
In the last few hours, Jamaica Get All Right has overtaken PSP Logistics and is in front leading by just four miles, with Qingdao dropping back into fourth place behind Henri Lloyd.
