Ballinderry continued their dominance of Derry football by clinching a hat-trick of Senior Football Championships when they defeated Ballinascreen by six points at Celtic Park this afternoon.
Ballinascreen made a good start and were 1-2 to 0-2 up thanks to an opening point by Seamus McBride and a goal and a point from Mickey McBride while with Ryan Bell and Collie Devlin pointed for the defending champions.
However, Ballinderry dominated for the remainder of the half, scoring 2-4 without reply to take a 2-6 to 1-2 advantage – Lawn and McIvor finding the net before captain Conor Nevin scored the last point of the half.
A Lawn shot high into the net in the 22nd minute and then McIvor’s close-range finish had Ballinascreen reeling before captain Conor Nevin advanced from defence for the last point of the half.
‘Screen had the chance of reducing the deficit, but Heron put a penalty kick wide after Gareth McKinless had been guilty of an illegal block.

Daniel McKinless netted a goal for Ballinderry shortly after the restart. However, Ballinsascreen kept going and were rewarded with points from play through Carlus McWilliams and Seamus Bradley (2).
Heron had an opportunity to narrow the arrears but struck the crossbar with his second penalty before Burns wrapped the game up with a goal in virtually the last move of the game.
It was Ballinderry’s 13th Derry crown.
Meanwhile, Foreglen had four points to spare when the beat Forglen 3-9 to 1-11 to win the Intermediate Football Championship Final played at the same venue.
