The close co-operation between the PSNI and Foyle Search and Rescue resulted into two people being taken to safety yesterday.
In the first incident, which occurred at 5.47pm, two boats and two jet-skis carried out a search after reports from police that a woman in distress was heading to the river. The woman was located by police and taken to safety.
In the second, two boats and a land land crew were tasked after the PSNI reported man in distress near the river’s edge. The man was located and taken to safety.
Earlier, at 11.33am the Foyle Search and Research team responded after reports of a possible body in the River Foyle. The team was stood down as nothing was found.
