A man was taken to hospital after he was injured in a stabbing in the Creggan area of Derry yesterday morning.
Shortly after 11.15am, a man entered a house in Rathkeele Way and following a verbal exchange a 46 year man sustained slash wounds to his hand. A 35 year woman was also threatened but was not injured.
A local woman, who wished not to be named, said the attacker entered the house and asked for the man’s friend before launching his attack.
She said: “The fella went into house looking for the houseowner’s friend but he wasn’t there and the fella in house got stabbed.
The woman said the man sustained his injuries as a result of raising his arm to protect himself from his attacker who then fled the scene.
She added: “He was brought out of the house and his arm was all bandaged up. He was put in the ambulance and taken to hospital.”
A PSNI spokesperson said police investigations into the incident were continuing.
