A new multi-pound University of Ulster research centre is to open next week at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
The centre operate at the hospital’s Clinical Translational Research and Innovation Centre (C-TRIC) facility and will develop new technologies and systems that will better predict and reduce treatment side effects for patients.
The completion of the new facility has been welcomed by Derry SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey.
He said the “remarkable” work being undertaken at the C-TRIC had put Derry on the map.
He added: “This development of the research being carried out will continue to compliment the portfolio of successful projects being worked on in the North West in relation to clinical research and implementation.”
He concluded: “The staff of the Western Trust and the University are to be congratulated on this new success and I wish them every success as they forge ahead in pushing the boundaries of research outcomes that could be used globally.”
