A 26-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being cut free from a three vehicle collision in the Rosemount area of the city late last night.
Fire and rescue crews from the nearby Northland Road station used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the woman who had been trapped in one of the vehicles involved in the incident which occurred in Park Avenue shortly before 11.00pm.
After being placed on a spinal board, the woman was taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital where she is being treated for back injuries.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.
