The PSNI in Derry have advised members of the public not to use its Facebook page to report a crime.
A police spokesperson said the site was not suitable to report a crime or an incident as it was not monitored 24/7.
The spokesperson said the non emergency phone number for police was 0845 600 8000 and in case of an emergency 999.
