Firefighters had to use cutting gear to free a woman from a collision in the Culmore area yesterday morning, it has emerged.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the woman had become “heavily trapped” in her car following a collision with a lorry on O’Donovan Road shortly after 8.30am.
Firefighters had to stabilise the vehicle prior to commencing the extrication.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital by ambulance. Her injuries were not thought to be serious.
The main Derry to Moville road was closed for period while firefighters freed the woman.
