Derry City will be hoping Sligo Rover win the FAI Cup next Sunday after securing fourth place in the Airtricity Prmiership with a 6-0 thumping of Limerick City at Brandywell last night.
A win for Rovers next week will mean the Brandywell Club will compete in next season’s Europa League.
Derry got off to the perfect start last night when Michael Rafter fired them in front. However, the Candy Stripes had to wait until the second half before putting the game beyond the visitors.
David McDaid found the back of the net in the 47th and 61st minutes before Deaan Jarvis scored in his goal for City with a 66th minute strike.
McDaid completed his hat-trick in he 69th minute before Simon Madden’s 78th goal completed the rout.
