Police in Derry have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of explosives, firearms and a quantity of drugs in the city last year.
The PSNI Organised Crime Branch said the arrest of the man in the Meadowbank Court area of the city was part of an ongoing investigation into serious offences including possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition in suspicious circumstances, as well as the supply of class A and B controlled drugs.
A police spokesperson said the arrest was connected to a search conducted in the city last December which involved the seizure of two Yugoslavian military origin high explosive hand grenades, a machine gun, two handguns, a quantity of ammunition plus Class A and B controlled drugs, namely ecstasy and methadrone with a potential street value of £20,000.
