A 27-year-old man is due to appear at Derry Magistrates Court this morning charged with a number offences, including possession of explosives and firearms.
The man was arrested in the Meadowbank Court area of the city on Saturday morning by detectives from PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch.
The man has been charged with two counts of possession of explosives in suspicious circumstances, specifically military high explosive hand grenade.
He has also been charged with five counts of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances, specifically a sub machine gun, two pistols and firearm magazines and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, namely a stun gun and CS gas spray.
