Police have warned members of the public in the Whitehouse Road area of Derry to be vigilant and to report any suspicious objects to police immediately.
A police spokesperson revealed a thorough search was carried out earlier this week following information that suggested there may be something suspicious in the area.
The spokesperson continued: “Officers went door to door talking to local residents and while nothing was found we would ask that should someone come across a suspicious object they do not touch it and contact police straightaway.”
The warning comes after a number of incidents in the city in which security forces had to deal with explosive devices.
