Among the representatives is Derry Deputy Mayor, Alderman Gary Middleton, who arrived in Cape Town today.
He said the trip was an opportunity for Derry to share its “new story” with a global audience.
He added: “During the visit we aim to re-connect with a number of agencies and organisations that can assist with promoting business, education, diaspora, tourism and media links.
“This will help develop relationships for the city that can be progressed during the four year partnership that we have with the Clipper Race 2013 -2016.”
Alderman Middleton concluded: “I am looking forward to exploring connections and meeting with the Clipper Teams ahead of their departure to Australia.”
A competition planned for all Clipper crew during the Derry group’s visit is aimed at encouraging them to get involved in the city’s Halloween celebrations presenting a unique opportunity to invite all crew and corporate sponsors to make a date for the Maritime Festival in the City during June 2014.
