Those behind an arson attack in Derry in which two cars were set on fire have been accused of “terrorising” the local community.
Condemning the incident which took place in Carnhill on Tuesday night last, Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan said two families had now been left without transport.
He said: “Those involved in these actions have only succeeded in terrorising their own communities by inflicting inconveniences upon them.”
Cllr Hassan concluded: “I would appeal to anyone with even the slightest piece of information in regards to those behind this despicable criminal act to bring it forward straight away.”
Police are hunting three people believed to have been involved in the attack which occurred around 8.00pm. They were wearing hooded tops and seen in the area at the time and are believed to have come from the Collon Lane direction.
Detectives investigating the incident want anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or a member of their local Neighbourhood Team directly – details can be found on the PSNI website.
A PSNI spokesperson said alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
