Staff at the Magee College campus of the University of Ulster are on strike today in a dispute over pay and workloads.
Lecturers and support staff are picketing the Magee campus on Rock Road in a nationwide dispute which also involves staff at Queen’s University in Belfast.
Both universities remain and have encouraged students to attend as normal.
Goretti Horgan, a lecturer at Magee and union representative, said university lecturers had not received a pay rise in over four years and during that time have experienced a downturn their their “take home” pay.
Ms Horgan, who joined the picket line in Derry, also claimed lecturers were over in excess of 70 hours a week.
