Translink has come under fire for delaying the publication of the results a public consultation surrounding the future of Derry’s railway station.
The consultation into the future of the Waterside station is understood to contain three options – revamp the present terminal, a new build or redevelopment the former station.
The consultation period closed in March but Translink has said its results will not be made public until February next.
The delay has angered East Derry SDLP MLA John Dallat and Derry MLAs Pat Ramsey (SDLP) MLA William Hay (DUP) with Mr Dallat claiming he had been informed by Translink that the overwhelming of majority of people consulted were in favour of redeveloping the old terminal.
Mr Dallat said he could not understand the reasons behind the delay in making the announcement.
Mr Hay also said information he “had received” also indicated the majority was in favour of revamping the old station.
Eamonn McCann. from rail lobby group Into The West, described the decision not to make the result of the consultation public as “ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, Mr Ramsey said he is to write to the Transport Minister Danny Kennedy regarding the matter.
He said: “The public consultation on Waterside terminal needs released now, there is no justification for the delay.”
