Proceeds of a portrait of Patrick Friel Curran, the young Derry man who died suddenly in America last month, are to go the charity fund set up build a school for deprived children in India.
Patrick (23) died unexpectedly in a New York hospital and following his death a huge fundraising effort on both sides of the Atlantic far exceeded the amount needed by his family to bring his remains home.
As a result, his family announced the excess finances and proceeds from future memorial fundraising efforts would be passed on to local charity Action With Effect to build a school in India in memory of Patrick.
The latest fundraising effort is by Daniel Devine Portraiture.
Daniel has drawn a portrait of his “good friend” and will be selling copies with the proceeds going to the fund.
Daniel said: “I put my absolute heart and soul into this and I know Paddy was with me every step of the way. I’ll be selling professional copies of this for £15 and any money raised will be given to his dad, Damian Curran, for the charity.”
Daniel, who has presented a copy of the portrait to Patrick’s family, said not a day went past that Patrick was not in his thoughts and prayers.
