There is back up of traffic on the main Derry to Buncrana Road due to the busy thoroughfare being closed.
The PSNI has sealed off the road between Skeoge Road and Templemore Sports Complex due to an ongoing police operation.
A police spokesperson said a search of the area was taking place following a report of suspicious activity.
