Derry parents have been called on not to buy their children quad or scrambler bikes for Christmas.quadbikes.org_wpcontent_uploads_quadbikes1

The call comes from Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue after new billboard was launched at Free Derry Wall warning about the destruction quads and scramblers were causing in many areas and the anti-social use of  such bikes.

Cllr Logue: “Derry City Council has spent thousands in repairs and additional fencing around the playing fields and parks to stop quads and scramblers destroying these facilities.

“The Housing Executive has also spent money repairing damage that has been caused to green areas managed by them in the Derry area. That is thousands of pounds of public money being spent trying to combat the problem and its taxpayers and ratepayers money that could be utilised elsewhere.”

Cllr said by highlighting the destruction quads and scramblers were causing in many areas and the anti-social use of these bikes she hoped parents would “think twice” before buying them as presents for their children.”
