The Bible, in which Roma stars as Jesus’s mother, Mary, has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award.

The Bible, which is co-produced by Roma’s husband Mark Burnett, was broadcast weekly between 3 March and 31 March 31 on the History Channel.

The first episode was seen by 13.1 million viewers, the largest cable television audience of 2013 to date.

The second installment continued “to deliver blockbuster ratings” for the network, attracting 10.8 million viewers.

The third installment on St Patrick’s Day was once again the No. 1 show on all of Sunday night television with 10.9 million total viewers.

In addition, the series garnered 4.2 million adults 25–54 and 3.5 million adults 18–49.[8] In total, with subsequent airings, The Bible has been seen by more than 100 million viewers.

The series received three Emmy Award nominations for best mini-series, and sound editing and sound mixing on July 18, 2013.

It also became the most downloaded series on iTunes and became the top-selling DVD mini-series ever in its first week of release in April.

The Derry actress has spoken of the surprise success of her television series, describing the show’s immense success as a “sweet, pleasant surprise.”

Meanwhile, Roma and her husband announced  in September last that they had teamed up with 20th Century Fox to release a theatrical film version of the show that will be entitled “Son of God.”

The movie, due to be released next year, will reportedly take scenes from the mini-series as well as scenes not shown to viewers to make a two-hour Biblical story focusing on the Resurrection of Jesus.
