A £2m extension to the Museum of Free Derry looks set to go ahead after Enterprise Minister Arlene Minister Foster finally “signed off” a £1.2 Tourist Board grant for the development.
The Bloody Sunday Trust had warned the project could not go ahead without the funding.
The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) has now confirmed Minister Foster has released the funding.
Conal McFeely, of the Bloody Sunday Trust, said he was “delighted” the “impasse” with the DETI.
Mr McFeely said the Trust was now awaiting a “letter of offer” which accepted, and following discussions with other funders, expected the new expansion to be open to the public early in the New Year.
