An extra train service will operate between Derry and Coleraine, beginning in the New Year, it has been announced.
From 6 January, the additional train will leave Derry at 4.13pm, then Castlerock at 4.52pm and arrive in Coleraine at 5.01pm.
The return service will leave Coleraine at 5.55pm, then Castlerock at 6.08pm and will arrive in Derry at 6.42pm.
The new afternoon service will see the number of trains operating on the Derry to Coleraine line increase from 59 each way per week to 64 each way per week.
Announcing the new service, Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said Translink had identified an opportunity to further enhance the train service during the evening peak Mondays to Fridays.
He said the additional train offered passengers “even more flexibility” for those who commute in both directions.
He added: “With around 7,000 people already using this section of the line every week, this new service will make this route even more attractive to use for North West commuters. I know this will be widely welcomed by all those passengers who use this important service.”
