Fears are growing that a number of jobs are to be lost at Derry’s Tax Office.
It is understood HMRC is planning to cut over 200 jobs throughout the North and that as many as 77 could be lost at its Derry office on Duncreggan Road.
In April this year, thousands of HM Revenue and Customs staff went on strike as part of a wave of industrial action being staged by civil servants over job cuts.
Workers from the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) took part in a half-day walkout, coinciding with the start of the new tax year.
The news comes as the fight intensifies to save 80 civil servant jobs at Waterside House in Derry.
