The American team chairing all-party talks on flags, parades and the past is due in Derry today to hold talks with local groups.
Richard Haass and Meghan O’Sullivan’s visit to the city follows an invitation from the Orange Order.
Local Orangemen said they were looking forward to the meeting at which they said they would enlighten the US diplomat on how a peaceful resolution to parades in the city had been reached.
Negotiations are reaching a crucial stage with the Haass team meeting each of the Executive parties twice ahead of a round table session on Friday.
Victims representatives and retired RUC officers are also expected to meet with the Haass team this week.
The current talks are talking place as loyalists prepare to march to mark the first anniversary of the flags dispute when Belfast City Council took a decision to fly the Union Flag on a limited number of days throughout the year.
