Richard Quigley, the young Derry man who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in Thailand last month, is back home.
There were emotional scenes as the 27-year-0ld was greeted by family and friends at his home in Ederowen Park in Galliagh. Richard’s mother, Margo, passed away during the summer.
Richard had to undergo life-saving surgery following the incident which occurred in Bangkok on 24 October.
He had been working as a barman in the Thai capital for three years.
Thousands of pounds was raised in Derry to help pay for Richard’s medical expenses which included surgery to remove a clot from his brain which cost in the region of £6,000.
Richard was accompanied home by his elder brother, Stephen, who had flown out to Bangkok to be by his bedside following the accident.
Stephen said it was “great to be home with family and friends.”
He again thanked everyone for their generosity.
He said: “Thank you again everyone. Your kindness has been overwhelming and something we as a family will be eternally grateful for.”
