Talks with international investors will see an American law firm create 65 jobs in Derry, according to the chief executive of the city’s Chamber of Commerce.
Sinead McLaughlin has said the negotiations will result in a New York legal firm bringing the posts to the banks of the Foyle.
Ms McLaughlin said as a result of the “vibrancy” created by Derry’s City of Culture year, there was now a “clear strategy” in the city.
“We now have a good sense of our strengths and a clear strategy in the city,” she told Insider Media Limited.
She said another focus would be the expansion of small companies.
She added: “We need to make sure the infrastructure is there to help small businesses to grow.
“The way to do that is by working on our university to ensure graduates have the right skill sets. That combination of infrastructure to support the economy will be a catalyst for growth.”
