Health Minister Edwin Poots has encouraged people to attend the Public Facing Accountability (PFA) meeting with the Western Trust being held in Derry tonight.
The meeting, taking place at 7.00pm at Lecture Theatre 1, MDEC Building at Altnagelvin Hospital, will be chaired by the Patient and Client Council.
The audience will be able to observe a Trust presentation on its overall performance, listen to questions from the Minister and to submit additional questions to be answered by the Trust at the end.
During the meeting, the Western Trust chief executive Elaine Way will give a short presentation on its performance over the last year and its outlook for the future.
Urging people to attend, the Minister said: “It is essential system to boost confidence in the delivery of services that we have complete openness and transparency across the Health and Social Care.
“This meeting, which is the third we have held, is an opportunity for me as Minister to hold the Western Trust to account. It is also an opportunity for the public to learn of the Trust’s progress and successes as well as air their views and raise concerns. I would urge members of the public to attend this important meeting.”
The Public Facing Accountability meetings will serve to raise public awareness of the important work of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety’s (DHSSPS) Arms Length Bodies (ALBs).
The Minister continued: “These meetings will serve to raise public awareness of the important work of my Department’s Arms Length Bodies (ALBs). I am very much looking forward to hearing the Western Trust outline its performance and set out its plans for the future. I expect the Trust to continue to strive for excellence to meet the challenges ahead.”
