A man escaped injury last night when armed and masked men attempted to hijack his car in the Galliagh area of Derry.
A PSNI spokesperson said at approximately 10.15pm, police received a report from a man, aged in his 30s, that two masked men had asked him to get out of his car.
The spokesperson said it was believed the two men were both armed with a suspected firearm.
The man was able to drive off in his car and was not injured in the incident.
The two masked men then drove off in another car.
The police spokesperson asked with any information about the incident, or who noticed any suspicious activity, to contact CID at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
