Derry runner Connor Bradley put in an outstanding performance to win yesterday’s annual Seeley Cup cross crony 10k.
The event, which also incorporated the Athletics NI 10k Championships, attracted thousands of athletes and spectators to Ormeau Park in Belfast.
The victory by Bradley, more known for his impressive exploits on the track, is seen as remarkable as he only competed over the 10k distance for the first time two weeks ago, on grass, at the AAI Inter-Counties Cross Country in Dublin in a time of 32.46.
The City of Derry Spartan took almost two minutes off that time, winning yesterday’s closely contested race in 30.34, five seconds ahead of Annadale Striders’ Paddy Hamilton Joe McAlister of St Malachy’s AC in third with a time of 30.50 completed the top three men in 30:50.
