News that new replacement kitchens are to be fitted in a number of Housing Executive homes in the Shantallow and Galliagh areas in the New Year has been welcomed by a local councillor.
Cllr Tony Hassan, Sinn Féin housing spokesperson, said homes in Curragh Walk, Bloomfield Park, Carnhill and Slievemore Park would get new kitchen in February.
Cllr Hassan said: “This is a good news story for the people who live in these areas as some of these tenants have been waiting for over 20years to have the kitchens in their homes replaced.
“The Housing Executive told me this week that the work would last for a number of months.”
Cllr Hassan concluded: “As local councillor for the area I welcome this news and would ask the Housing Executive to look at other areas with a view of carrying out kitchen replacements.”
