Thirty new jobs will be created in Derry today when Domino’s Pizza opens its second store in the city.
It brings to 60 the number of people employed in Derry by Domino’s.
And that figure is set to increase as recruitment is still ongoing for the new Strand Road store which is situated opposite Earth Nightclub/Cole’s Bar.
The company already employs 30 people at its store at the junction of Victoria Road and Spencer Road in the Waterside.
Justin Quirk, franchisee of both city stores, said the opening of the new Strand Road shop would see the delivery expand from the existing Waterside store, ensuring fresh, piping hot, tasty pizza was delivered to the doors of Derry homes.
To celebrate the opening of the Strand Road store, Mr Quirk will be joined by pizza-loving “Miss Derry” Ashleigh Coyle, mascot Danny Domino, local staff and Richard Moore and John Ryan from the Children in Crossfire charity.
Over the last four years Domino’s Derry has worked closely with Children in Crossfire to raise funds through “Mega Weeks” and sponsorship drives and the new store will continue to work with the charity.
Mr Quirk said Domino’s was delighted to be opening its second store in Derry and bringing additional jobs to the city.
He added: “It’s an exciting time to be part of a thriving city such as Derry and we look forward to continuing our support of the local community and of the Children in Crossfire charity.”
The opening of the new Strand Road store brings to over 20 the number of Domino’s Pizza stores in the North.
Domino’s prides itself in the home delivery of pizza, freshly made to order with high quality ingredients.
Customers can order online at www.dominos.co.uk.
