The High Kings, Give Me Head Peace gang and Brendan Grace are among the acts Derry’s Millennium Forum has included in its new programme of events for the New Year.
The season opens with music as The High Kings and Ireland’s Showbands return in January.
Next month also sees the much anticipated return of local musicians Paul Casey, Bronagh Gallagher and Paddy Nash for Homegrown 2014.
Classical music lovers won’t be disappointed in January as the Ulster Orchestra brings two concerts, their enchanting Viennese Concert and Time Travel.
The hugely popular Conal Gallen is back with his comedy play, A Bit on the Side, for a week-long run in January, hot on the heels of a sell-out show last month which received rave reviews.
Also next month, David O’Doherty brings his unique brand of stand-up to the Forum’s stage in January while younger audiences will be delighted to hear Fireman Sam will present his brand new show.
The Forum welcomes back Tommy Fleming in February and popular country sensation Mike Denver in March.
The Give My Head Peace gang and, fresh from his role as Captain Hook in the Christmas panto, William Caulfield, both appear in March as does Irish comedian Brendan Grace.
Also in March the drama A Skull in Connemara by Martin McDonagh and Bardic’s version of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa will take to the Forum Stage.
March also sees the return of the Lyric Theatre with their new production of the Brian Friel play Molly Sweeney.
Meanwhile, everyone’s farm animal Peppa Pig will be appearing later in the season.
The musical for the season will be the hit West End show Tonight’s the Night, featuring the songs from world renowned musician, Rod Stewart. From the company who brought us the sensational, Rocky Horror Show, this production is a first for Derry and is guaranteed to delight local musical theatre fans.
Meanwhile, The Pogues’ Shane McGowan is to team up with one of Ireland’s most popular singers for a special concert at the end of this month that is set to see 2013 finish with a bang.
McGowan will be a special guest of Sharon Shannon when the multi-awarding Sharon Shannon takes to the Forum stage on Sunday 29 December in a concert celebrating the launch of her new collection “21: Definitive Sharon Shannon.”
On stage at the Forum at present is this year’s Christmas pantomime Peter Pan – oh, yes it is!
Peter Pan, starring Michael Jay Heath and William Caulfield, will be appearing until 5 January.
Bookings for all the above shows can now be made at the Millennium Forum. Call the Box Office on 02871 264455 for tickets or visit www.millenniumforum.co.uk for online bookings.
