Investment in road infrastructure in Derry and the North West is “crucial” to ensure the region is “fit for purpose” to help improve connectivity and job creation, Derry Sinn Fein MLA Raymond McCartney has said.
Mr McCartney was speaking after Transport Minister Danny Kennedy set out Roads Service’s progress on investment totalling £8million for road improvement and maintenance schemes in the Derry area this year.
Raymond McCartney said “Investment in our road infrastructure is crucial to ensure that Derry and the North West region is fit for purpose to help improve connectivity and create jobs.Sinn Féin will continue to press Ministers to ensure that there is delivery for Derry.”
He added: “Be it new traffic lights on the Northland Road, additional signage, automated parking information systems and new pelican crossings, all are vital in reducing traffic gridlock in the city at peak times of the day. And making it safer for pedestrians and motorists.”
