The strong winds currently blowing across Derry are to ease bringing clear spells and showers, according to the Met Office.
Today’s maximum temperature will be 8 °C.
The clear spells and showers will continue into the evening with a frost developing as the temperature drops to a minimum of -2 °C.
Tomorrow will be generally cloudy with outbreaks of rain becoming milder with freshening southwesterly winds giving way to a maximum temperature of 6 °C.
Derry would have appeared to have missed the worst of the gale force winds. Northern Ireland has confirmed approximately 6,500 customers are currently without electricity following severe gale force winds, gusts of 60mph, which caused damage to the electricity network in Northern Ireland.
The main areas affected include the east, north east and more exposed rural locations across the country.
NIE emergency crews and engineers have been working since early morning to repair damage to the electricity network.
Electricity supplies have been restored to over 10,000 customers during the night.
Damage has been caused by flying debris and high winds, including broken electricity lines and damage to poles and other equipment.
An NIE spokesperson said: “There may also be further faults which have not yet been reported to Northern Ireland Electricity and adverse weather conditions, which could cause additional faults, are due to continue for the next few hours.
“We would like to remind customers that if they do lose electricity supplies they should contact the NIE Customer Helpline on 08457 643 643 or report a power cut online. Customers can also follow us on Twitter @NIElectricity for regular updates.”
