England have been quoted at 33/1 to win next year’s World Cup in Brazil after today’s draw which sees Roy Hodgson’s side in the same group as Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica.
The English will play their first game in Group D against Italy on 14 June, kick off 2.00am Irish time in the city of Manaus in the Amazon region.
They will then face Uruguay, who include Liverpool’s on fire striker Luiz Suarez in their side, five days later in Sao Paulo before finishing their group match fixtures against Costa Rica in Beloe Horizonte on 24 June.
Should England qualify from their group, they will face either Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast or Japan in the second round.
Optomists will look to last time England faced either Uruguay, Costa Rica or Italy in the first round of the World Cup was in 1966 – the last and only time they have ever lifted the trophy.
Then, they played Uruguay in Group 1, drawing 0-0 at Wembley.
The opening game of the competition will see hosts Brazil take on Croatia on 12 June in Sao Paulo with the final being played in the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on 13 July (kick off 8.00pm Irish time).

Following today’s draw Ladbrokes have hosts Brazil at 10/3 favourites to win the tournament. Argentina are quoted at 9/2, Germany 11/2 and defending champions Spain 6/1.
Iran and Honduras are the joint rank outsiders at 1,500/1.
