The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire has picked up two bonus points in Race 5 of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race from Albany to Sydney in Australia.
The Derry entry crossed the “scoring gate” in second place behind OneDLL and seven minutes ahead of Henri Lloyd in third spot.
Meanwhile, a large front is expected to hit the fleet in the coming days with gusts of up to 60 knots anticipated with just over 1,600 miles to go to the finish line.
Rough seas have already had an effect on the Derry crew.
Skipper Sean McCarter revealed: “After the excitement of start day and a breezy first night, crew and skipper are all finding their rhythm. A couple of the crew suffered seasickness but not too bad.”
